It’s been a long time since I’ve updated my friends/readers about what I’ve been listening to. That’s about to end!
So while I’m en route to le job, home, or a play date on a Thursday night, I’m plugged in to these tracks. Here’s to listening together!
Cool Kids- EchoSmith
I Saw You- Beach Vacation
Le monde n’y peut rien- Peter Peter
Anything Could Happen- Ellie Goulding
The designer, Andrea Jiapei Li, has been lovely to work with. I continue to look forward to what she designs in the future. We’ve even agreed to keep in touch through New York’s Fashion Week come September; Parsons has its own show around that time, featuring its student designers, and I’ve got my eye on a seat or two!
Hope you all enjoy the latest in my editorial venture with Deux Hommes!
Without sounding like a numchuck, I’m in my early 20s and I do what any other 20-something in New York City does: I go out; I mingle; I have a cranberry and vodka, sometimes two, and I love it. This past fourth of July weekend, though, was on another level.
On Friday, I have to admit– my holiday plans were as stale as a Lindsay Lohan mug shot… I was going to stay in, write up a story I was on…
This month, I’ve shared a little bit more about my networking experiences, plus social, around New York.
Last night a bug– I won’t say whether it was a cockroach because then that would make it too real– and it flew directly onto my laptop’s keyboard. This is New York. You’ll find bugs in random places, like on your laptop while watching reruns of GIRLS at 11:30pm. There will be random homeless men, crouched over with no-name cardboard cups, in the streets, accosting you by calling you different…
FALLEN ANGEL: GELAREH DESIGNS
My first editorial spread for avant-garde fashion magazine Deux Hommes has been published!
I am very grateful for the opportunity to write for two founders with such an finely developed sense of purpose for their magazine.
I look forward to creating many more designer profiles in the future!
As previously mentioned to you guys, my official InternMatch column has been published in its first installment. I’ll be contributing monthly, so there will be consistent updates on my life and working my way toward landing an entry level (whatever that means!!) opportunity in the fashion industry.
Yah, I’m excited, too! (: Just click through to read my story on fresh!
Five weeks in, New York has been like a parental shield, hovering over me and then pissing off at just the right moment when I need to learn a valuable life lesson. As I told my current roommate and good girlfriend: “Shit happens and then the universe kind of scoops you up and saves you; it throws you a bone.”
Besides every tiger professional aching to achieve her goals, there’s a person of real…
Just discovered a young artist/model/actress who custom designs Keds and Vans and such. These are MAJ, and I’m in love. End of. x
Hellooooo, readers!! It’s been way too long.
It’s been three whole weeks that I’ve lived in New York now and I have experienced more in these past few weeks than I have while at university for four toiling years! I’ve been cat called ’til kingdom come, hit in the face by a rogue cell phone on the subway, led astray by a faux club promotor and a man with a nylon backpack and a yellow blazer, and…
Yes, the day has arrived. I’ve packed up my teddy bear, my men’s power speed stick (because, like Mindy Lahiri, nothing else is going to cut it), and my fashion sensibilities– from my Joie to my Benefit. Oh, and those silk bundles: those are currently protecting my J.Crew jewelry collection. And beauty? Well, that needs no explanation! (:
It’s time to get outta here. The bright light is…
Me, like many of you, aren’t able to fully understand how much crap we actually carry around from one homestead to another. Facing this hard truth is like finding out it’s too late to catch up on flossing and you now have gingivitis. Moving sucks, and you’ve still got to take out the trash.
Here’s some photos of the gargantuan, and seemingly pointless, piles of trash that are destined for…
Clothes and shoes come and go, but quality jewels stay with me. And forget about packing those DVDs with individual cases; they’re going in an accordion CD filer. I just can’t leave without some of my favorite TV shows. It’s a minor catastrophe that The Mindy Project, Made in Chelsea, and 2 Broke Girls aren’t in there already, but that can be easily changed in the near future!
I’ve got two weeks before I pick myself up from the literal edge of the west coast and plant myself in New York. Moving for anyone is stressful. Moving from one extreme point on a gigantic country’s map to the other? It’s daunting, and yes, I’m doing it with a mere two suitcases and a carry-on. Imagining my departure date at the airport, I see a mixture of two emotions from people watching as I…
